Wiggins Breaks Hour Record

It’s been called cycling’s ultimate test of speed, strength and endurance. Only six riders have won the Tour de France and broken the one hour record – Lucien Petit-Breton (France), Fausto Coppi (Italy), Jacques Anquetil (France), Eddy Merckx (Belgium), Miguel Indurain (Spain), Bradley Wiggins (Great Britain).

He’s won the Tour de France, multiple Olympic and World gold medals, but the World time trial had always eluded him. In his final World Championships, before concentrating on the track for the 2016 Olympics, Brad Wiggins beat  defending champion Tony Martin, the winner for the last three years, by half-a-minute, over the hilly 47.1km course in Ponferrada, Spain. His triumph came 20 years after Chris Boardman won the title at the inaugural championships.
