Gemili And Asher-Smith Shine

Adam Gemili becomes the sixth British athlete to break 10 seconds for the 100 metres and the only Briton to do a sub 20 200 metres and a sub 10 100 metres. He finished second behind American winner Marvin Bracy’s 9.93 in 9.97. He may have paid a heavy price for it with a possible hamstring tear.

Dina Asher-Smith ran the second fastest 200 metres ever by a British woman, finishing third behind Jeneba Tamoh and Olympic champion Allyson Felix, as both Americans did 22.29 and Asher Smith recorded a stunning 22.30. Kathy Cook’s British records for 100 and 400 metres lasted 27 and 29 years, respectively. After 30 years her 22.10 200 metres is still there!

Greg Rutherford won the long jump in his second best ever distance of 6.35, better than his gold medal winning jump at the London Olympics.

Laura Muir got her second PB this season as she finished second in the 800 metres with 2:00.42, behind Kenyan Eunice Sum, whose 1:59.85 leaves her unbeaten this season.
