Kentucky In, Louisville Out.

maxresdefault[1]

Kentucky beat Notre Dame 68-66, as a buzzer beating shot by the Fighting Irish missed! Louisville lost 76-70 in overtime to Michigan State. If it had happened it would have been the Dream final. Kentucky going for the perfect season and their biggest rival trying to stop a 40-0. It’s not to be, as Kentucky face Wisconsin and Michigan State take on Duke in the Final Four.

Rick Pitino now has an 12-1 record in the Sweet Sixteen! Four Louisville starters finished in double figures, with Terry Rozier getting 17 points and 14 rebounds. Now either Louisville or Michigan State will be going to the final Four, two teams who had lost form before the tournament. It’s why they call it March Madness.

Kentucky become the first team in the history of college basketball to go 36-0. John Wooden’s UCLA teams of the 60’s and 70’s were 30-0. Indiana went 32-0 in 1976. Wichita State were 35-0 last year until they were beaten by Kentucky.

After Louisville beat Northern Iowa 66-53, coach Rick Pitino said, “Tonight, we played our best game of the season.” It’s the first time the Cardinals have reached the Sweet Sixteen for the fourth consecutive year.

Louisville meet NC State, who knocked out number one seed Villanova. Kentucky take on West Virginia.

The Wildcats (35-0) play Cincinnati (23-10) tonight and the Cardinals (23-8) take on Northern Iowa (31-3) tomorrow, for a place in the Sweet Sixteen.
