Birmingham Diamond League



Mo Farah ran the second mile of the 2 miles in exactly four minutes to break Steve Ovett’s 36 year-old British and European record by six seconds. He also passed his own British indoor record by one second to clock 8:07.85, destroying the field. Commonwealth Games 5000 metres bronze-medalist Zane Robertson was 15 seconds back in second place.

David Rudisha led from gun to tape and just missed Jonny Gray’s 1986 World record 600 metres by one second in 1:13.71.  In seventh Kyle Langford broke a 25 year-old British junior record with 1:16.30.

Asbel Kiprop won the Emsley Carr mile in 3:51.14 with a powerful surge in the last 100.

Lynsey Sharp beat a classy 800 metres field including World and Commonwealth champion Eunice Sum for a 1:59.14 victory.
