A Crystal Palace Classic

One of the oldest records in British athletics was set in 1978 when Steve Ovett broke the 2 miles World record in 8:13.51, beating Kenyan legend Henry Rono, the multiple World record-holder and Haile Gebrselassie of his era. It stood as the UK all-commers record until 1999 when Gebrselassie ran 8:01.72 at Crystal Palace.

Mo Farah runs the 2 miles at the Birmingham Diamond League on Sunday.
