Farah Back On Top/Porter Gets Gold/ Dasaolu Delivers



Mo Farah put a toubled year behind him with a 54 second last lap win in the 10000 metres in 28:08.12. Andy Vernon took a surprise silver less than a second behind Mo, who makes history with the most individual medals in European Championship history. He has four gold and one silver. His total of nine global medals is better than Daley Thompson, Linford Christie and Jonathon Edwards.

Tiffany Porter took gold at last in the 100 metres hurdles after getting silver in various championships. She beat Cindy Billaud in 12.79. Tiffany is the  first British female ever to become European sprint hurdles champion

James Dasaolu starts to deliver on his potential with gold in the 100 metres, clocking 10.06 on a cold and wet night. Harry Aikines-Aryeetey snatched bronze, edging out Dwain Chambers.

Ashleigh Nelson became the first British female sprinter to get a European medal since Andrea Lynch 40 years ago, with a bronze in 11.22, after a PB in her heat and semi-final.

This is Britain’s best ever start to a major championships, topping the medals table with seven.
